Artist Spotlight

Emanuela DeMusis
Painter Emmy DeMusis lives and works in Boston. After earning a degree in painting from Carnegie Mellon University she furthered her study at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy and at Studio Escalier in southern France. She currently teaches painting at the Academy of Realist Art in Boston.  Emmy is master portrait painter. Her large painting, Miss Rachel, won the prestigious gold medal at the Guild Of Boston Artists and her psychological piece, Fritter and Waste, was featured in International Artist Magazine. In 2015, DeMusis was listed among Poets and Artists Magazine's 50 Memorable Painters. We are excited to see what she does next!

Demusis' working method is exacting and we have great examples of her process at the gallery. After making an initial sketch of her subject she completes a color block in study- a lose color sketch delineating color shifts and planes. From there she completes a small version of the bigger painting; this enables her to work out all issues before moving on to the final canvas. Her work is consistently excellent.

Ms.DeMusis accepts portrait commissions. While she prefers to work from life, she understands not everyone has the time and she can tailor her methods to any schedule--working from both life and reference photographs. Pricing varies based on size and complexity; if you want to learn more about the process let us know and we will walk you through it!

Our inaugural show will close in early July to make way for our next group show, Music and Flowers. With new works inspired by our theme, this show will celebrate summer on the North Shore where outdoor concerts abound and gardens are in bloom. The show opens July 14 from 6-8pm. Join us for live music and great art.

Thanks as always for reading, and if you haven't been in yet, be sure to stop in before our current show ends.
