Tim McGuire (B. 1971) was raised in Buffalo, NY. In 2008, he left his career as a kindergarten teacher in Los Angeles to pursue painting full-time in Florence, Italy, where he subsequently stayed for ten years. There he studied traditional academic painting based on representing the world through the visual impression. He found these years of study to be very helpful in building a solid foundation.
McGuire looks at the imaginative, emotional, and expressionistic side of painting and puts himself into the work. He makes paintings that are based primarily on his visual impression: his work in the process becoming less and less about how he sees and more and more about how he feels (which is usually pretty delighted). This sense of delight comes through in McGuire’s work and makes it unique his.
In 2018 McGuire returned from abroad and now lives in Novia Scotia. McGuire's work has been exhibited in the United States, The United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, and Canada.
